Admissions Information

The parent or legal guardian of any child wishing to attend the Montana School for the Deaf and the Blind must complete an application for admission. A medical examination form signed by a licensed physician, evidence of immunizations required by law, and documentation of a hearing or vision loss or impairment are also required.

Students will be admitted for an initial evaluation period not to exceed six weeks. A student residing on or off-campus must be accompanied by a parent, legal guardian, or social worker at the time of admission. Those residing in the Cottage must have all permission forms signed at the time of admission.

At the conclusion of the evaluation period, the determination of whether or not MSDB is the most appropriate placement for the student will be made utilizing the Child Study Team (CST) process, which includes an IEP meeting. The CST process follows the rules and regulations established by the Office of Public Instruction.

If you are interested in enrolling your child at MSDB, or have any further questions regarding the admissions process, please contact Chris Gutschenritter, Admissions Coordinator, at (406) 771-6006, or via email.
